Caring for animals with compassion, purpose and love
Our purpose is to provide a safe, loving environment for animals in need. We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome where possible and appropriate animals who have been abandoned, neglected, or mistreated. Every animal deserves kindness, respect, and the chance to thrive. We aim to give them that second chance. By creating a nurturing space, we help animals heal emotionally and physically. We also work to build strong bonds between animals and people.
We envision a world where all animals are treated with respect and compassion. In our future, sanctuaries like ours are no longer needed because cruelty no longer exists. Every animal has a safe place to live, free from harm. We dream of stronger community connections through shared care for animals. Our sanctuary will become a hub for learning, healing, and hope for the animals. We aim to inspire change by showing what's possible through kindness.
Our key objectives are to rescue animals in urgent need and provide them with safe shelter, nutritious food, and essential medical care. We focus on helping animals recover both physically and emotionally through compassionate rehabilitation. For those who are adoptable, we work hard to find loving, permanent homes. Animals who cannot be rehomed are given lifelong sanctuary. We also aim to educate the community on animal welfare and responsible pet ownership, while advocating for stronger protections through law and awareness.
Nestled in the heart of the Central North Island of New Zealand our sanctuary began with a simple mission — to create a safe space where all animals, big and small, could feel loved, protected, and truly at home. What started as a small idea quickly grew into a haven for both rescued pets and farm animals. However our expertise and background combines approximately 50 years of rescue and rehabilitation experience. Today, we provide homes for everything from playful pups and gentle cats to clucking chickens and majestic horses and everything in between, each with their own story and spirit. Every animal who comes through our doors is treated like whānau — they receive the care, love, and respect they deserve. We believe healing happens through kindness, patience, and connection. Our sanctuary is more than a shelter; it's a place of hope, second chances, and soft landings. Every day, we're reminded that even the smallest acts of love can change lives — theirs and ours.
